AN Oldham father of five has been found guilty of the repeated sexual abuse of two young girls.
A jury took five hours to decide 35-year old Ibrahim Kara was guilty of six counts of sexual assault against the youngsters, who lived in the Failsworth area.
They found him not guilty of two charges of sexual assault on the same girls, but guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and of beating a woman in the case.
Manchester Crown Court heard that Kara, originally from Tanzania, had punched the woman several times in the face, slapped her across her face and threatened to kill her.
The girls said they were too frightened to speak out at the time.
The elder girl, who was eight when the offences were committed, told her grandmother of the sexual assaults in August 2013. The girls’ mother wasn’t told until a violent incident in January, when the truth emerged. The younger girl, six at the time, admitted she too had been assaulted by Kara.
Kara, who had worked as a self-employed salesman admitted he had touched both girls “in play”, but added: “There was nothing sexual about it. The whole thing has been a nightmare.”
Kara, who lives in Miles Platting, will be sentenced on January 22.
