CHRISTMAS came early for youth zone Mahdlo when its annual winter ball raised a staggering £34,000 in donations.
The Egerton Street centre was transformed into a winter wonderland for a night of music and dancing.
Hundreds of local supporters descended on Mahdlo for the event, sponsored by the Stoller Charitable Trust and the Safeguard Group.
The money was raised through ticket sales, auctions and sponsorship pledges.
Claire Crossfield, Mahdlo’s community development manager, said: “We can’t thank everyone who joined us enough for this spectacular night.
“In the coming year we need to raise over £300,000 from the community, events and new patrons. The success of the ball has really boosted our campaign.”
Norman Stoller, president of Mahdlo, described the ball as “truly a night to remember.”
He added: “It was a night that made me feel so proud of what we have done together.”
