Ambulance crews to strike in pay dispute

Date published: 20 November 2014

AMBULANCE staff will strike on Monday in a dispute over pay. GMB, Unison and Unite members will down tools between 7am and 11am.

Staff dealing with life-threatening calls will be exempt from strike action; the unions have also agreed to attend major incidents.

Patients transported to medical appointments are advised to check if their appointments will go ahead.

Ambulance service director of operations Derek Cartwright said: “The Trust is pleased a service will continue for those with life-threatening conditions, but the industrial action may result in delays to patients of all categories.

“The Trust is exploring all avenues to maintain as much of the service as possible.
