Neighbours had called 999 and the 46-year-old education consultant said: “We are lucky that we have quite a big drive.

“It was such a fireball that it could have spread to the house if it has been parked nearer.”

A neighbour’s car was also broken into and police confirmed that six cars were damaged and bricked in neighbouring Birch Avenue and near-by Chadderton Fold.

Windows were also smashed in Kiln Hill Close and garden furniture thrown around.

Mr Ball added: “Neighbours who we have spoken to are worried and scared because it seems quite random.”

People with information about the attacks should contact police on 101.
