MAHDLO are urging everyone to think of Oldham’s youngsters as they choose who to make a Christmas donation to this year.

The Egerton Street Youth Zone are appealing for kind-hearted residents to consider making a donation to Mahdlo in order to help keep the facility open and thriving.

Mahdlo’s Community Development Manager Claire Crossfield said: “We know that everyone’s feeling the pinch at the moment but by keeping your giving local you’ll be making a big difference to the next generation of Oldhamers.

“Christmas is the time for sharing and being with the ones we love but for many young people accessing Mahdlo, it’s just another day of loneliness.

“Many people don’t realise that we, as well as providing opportunities and activities for youngsters, also support those with no one to talk to, nowhere to go and no one to take care of them.”

She added that by giving £2 or whatever they can afford, Mahdlo can keep their projects and programmes working with vulnerable young people up and running.

Claire continued: “We’ve had a fantastic 2014, we’ve helped young people into full-time employment, to get off the streets, into accommodation, supported them with issues around mental health, exploitation and violence as well as giving them an alternative to a life of isolation and no future.

“We want to make 2015 our best yet.”

Mahdlo also rely on over a hundred volunteers who help to keep the youth zone open whenever school is closed.

Claire said: “We understand that for some people even £2 isn’t something they can afford so instead we’d like them to think about the gift of time. Becoming a volunteer for just a few hours a week changes lives and that’s just as important.”

To give £2 to Mahdlo this Christmas text MOYZ11 £2 to 70070.
