Man critical after crash

A 24-YEAR-OLD man is in a critical condition in hospital after a car crashed into a garden wall in Royton.

The man suffered a serious head injury, fractured shoulder and fractured ribs when he was thrown from a Peugeot 306 in Fir Lane, close to its junction with Grasmere Road, at 1.30am on Saturday.

He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A 27-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital with minor injuries. She was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody for questioning. The road was closed for several hours.

Sergeant Mark Thomas from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “It would have been quiet at the time of the collision but if you saw what happened we would urge you to speak to us.”

A MAN was cut free from his Mitsubishi Colt when he crashed into a wall on Friday morning. Police and firefighters were called to Wellington Street in Coppice at 11.50am. The man was cut free and taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. The road was closed for several hours.
