Carla Guatero: fun on the menu

Waitress Carla Guatero is dishing out good grub with a side order of laughs at Chadderton Bar and Grill.

But the popular Middleton Road restaurant is a world away from her celebrity lifestyle in her native Chile.

Comedian Carla, who is half-Italian, is a huge TV star in Chile and can’t walk down the street without being asked for her autograph.

She came to the UK to escape her crazy lifestyle and is happily settled into her new job alongside her friend and joint restaurant owner, Musti Serbest.

“I have been on TV in Chile for 12 years on stand-up shows and I have a good life over there - but I needed to escape; it was getting too much,” said Carla, who lives in Bolton but is planning to move to the Oldham area.

“I love waitressing, it gives me another stage on which to perform - and I like being able to live a normal life. I am also growing to love Oldham and am definitely thinking about moving here.”

Carla splits her time between the UK, Chile and Italy, where she does theatre shows.

While she likes to lay low in England and live the quiet life, she was lured to try out for the small screen last year when she auditioned for “Big Brother”.

Musti says Carla is a fantastic addition to the venue’s atmosphere and he’s planning to give her a monthly performance slot.

“People are starting to come back to the restaurant to see Carla because she is so funny, warm and entertaining.

“Where she worked in Bolton all the Trip Advisor reviews mention Carla and that is happening here now. We are hoping she will perform once a month. She also has an amazing voice.”
