Little Miss Magic!

A NINE-year-old girl who overcame leukaemia is planning to help other children battle cancer - by donating her long hair to those who have lost their own.

Ysabella Strudwick, from Failsworth, was five months old when she underwent six months of gruelling chemotherapy and lost her thick black hair.

But as her hair began to grow back in a beautiful shade of blonde, she started calling it her “magic hair”.

Mum Sarah (39) said: “Ysabella has never had more than a trim of her hair, because she hates the thought of having it cut. Though she doesn’t remember losing her hair she has said how awful it must be to lose it when you are ill.

“She decided she would like to donate some of it to children who have lost their own due to chemotherapy.”

Ysabella, who won a Pride in Oldham award in 2006 for smiling through her treatment, is hoping to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs for children.

The kind-hearted youngster is also appealing for cash donations - since each wig costs £350.

Ysabella, a year five pupil at Mather Street Primary School in Failsworth, is in remission following her treatment and continues to do well.

Sarah, who works at Yew Tree Primary School, and her husband Kelvin (39), say the whole family - Ethan (19), Zackery (18) Adrienna (17), Ezekiel (6) and Matilda (4) - are proud of Ysabella’s charity efforts.

Ysabella plans to have her hair cut at school on February 13 - nine years after her treatment.
