Man who spat at police faces jail
Date published: 27 January 2015
DRUNKEN Kieron Stewart faces possible jail after twice spitting in a policeman’s eyes.
Stewart, of Heron Street, Oldham, pleaded guilty at Manchester and Salford magistrates court to assaulting the officer and being drunk and disorderly outside Printworks in Manchester city centre on January 10.
Stewart was among a group shouting and swearing at police and goading doormen with provocative behaviour. The officers had ignored him until the spitting incident.
Solicitor Nnamdi Inegbu, defending, said Stewart had been “vastly” intoxicated and was deeply ashamed of his behaviour.
Stewart was remanded on bail until February 2.
