OLDHAM College student Nathan Simpson was transformed into Canadian crooner Michael Buble for the new-look “Stars in Their Eyes” show.

The Chadderton 22 year old, who only started singing 18 months ago, performed the hit “Cry Me A River” on the the Harry Hill-hosted ITV series.

But his hopes of reaching the final were dashed when rival Emma Wright, from Blackpool, won with her version of Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory”.

Nathan, who is studying performing arts, said: I’ve always been keen on acting and singing so when I saw the application process online I thought what have I got to lose?”

Nathan spent four days in London filming and added: “Harry Hill was a really great guy. Filming in front of a studio audience was really enjoyable and much less daunting than appearing live on television. It was an absolutely fantastic experience.”

Nathan will be back on stage in Oldham College’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors” at the Grange Theatre in March.
