Date published: 13 February 2015
POLICE have released more information on the two armed men who robbed a jeweller’s shop in Huddersfield Road, Greenacres.
Staff at Alexander Jewellers at Greenacres Shopping Precinct were removing jewellery from display at the end of the day when the raiders — one carrying a sledgehammer — pulled up on a stolen red Kawasaki motor-cycle.
The man with the sledgehammer smashed windows while his accomplice waited on the bike. The raider grabbed some items before the pair ran off, leaving the bike behind.
The man with the sledgehammer was described as white, aged 18-22, 5ft 8in-5ft 11in tall, with skinny legs. He wore a padded top and a silver-coloured helmet with a blue zig-zag design on the side.
The other was also aged 18-22 and described as scrawny. He wore dark clothing and a red motor-cycle helmet.
Det-Con Chris Julian said: “This incident has caused a shock to the local community. I would urge anybody with information to come forward.”
Anybody with information should contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
