SURANNE JONES: BBC move in latest drama
OLDHAM actress Suranne Jones is to play the title role in upcoming BBC One drama “Doctor Foster”.
The five-part series, created by award-winning writer Mike Bartlett, sees Chadderton-born Suranne play a GP whose life is rocked by the suspicion of her husband’s infidelity.
Suranne rose to fame in “Coronation Street” and has most recently starred in the ITV detective drama “Scott & Bailey”, of which she was one of the creators.
This latest venture focuses on her character Gemma Foster GP, who is the heart of the town and trusted by all.
Suranne said: “This is about looking at one woman’s story and asking, what if that was me? What would I do in that situation? And the age-old question: why? I’m very much looking forward to telling Gemma Foster’s story.”
