OUTRAGED residents have hit out at vandals who have wrecked playing fields in Moorside by racing vans and motorised buggies there.

Football pitches at White Hall Lane now have deep, rutted tyre tracks and divots from the vehicles for the second time this year.

Moorside resident Alan Siddall said: “When it snowed earlier in the year they were racing on the land, but as nobody stopped them they came back. This time it has caused much more damage.”

The pitch is home to local amateur football team Moorside FC, which has also expressed its anger

The damage has been reported to Oldham Council and the police.

Councillor Barbara Brownridge, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and co-operatives, said: “We share the community’s outrage. Local residents miss out when they can’t use the pitches. I’d urge anyone who has any information to contact the council or the police.”
