ON your marks... staff at Hathershaw College will mark the school’s diamond jubilee by entering 60 staff in this year’s Great Manchester Run.
The school, which was inspired by the shape of the famous Lancaster Bomber built by Avro in Chadderton, opened in May 1955. To celebrate the anniversary, the 60 staff members will join 40,000 other runners at the city centre event on May 10.
The team, which includes ex-employees, will be led by the chair of governors and the next Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Atteeque Ur-Rehman. All will wear T-shirts designed by pupils.
Technology teacher Suzie Wiswell, a keen runner, had the idea of 60 runners taking part to mark the school’s age.
