A ROCHDALE-BASED intelligence analyst has won awards for her pioneering work to combat child sexual exploitation.

Danielle Williams received a commendation at the Association of Crime and Intelligence Analysts Conference in Manchester for outstanding achievements and innovative development in the field of crime and intelligence analysis.

She won the national award for her work in profiling child sexual exploitation in Rochdale, which led to a second award from the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Units (IALEIA), the world’s largest professional organisation representing law enforcement analysts.

Danielle will receive the award at a presentation at the IALEIA/LEIU (Law Enforcement Intelligence Units) conference in Phoenix, Arizona, on May 7.

Danielle said: “I was delighted to have won, especially because of the outstanding calibre of nominations. To receive the international award too was such a shock but it was amazing news and a great achievement. I am astounded that the work that I have carried out in Rochdale has now been recognised on a global level.

The profile for Rochdale was the first of its kind, a 108-page report with toolkits for assessing victims and vulnerable people and disruption and prevention tactics.

Danielle added: “These awards are a great recognition of some of the ground-breaking work that has been carried out by GMP into identifying victims and perpetrators.

“Mistakes were made in the past but this work is proof of how much we have evolved and we will always strive to look for new opportunities to improve even further.
