AN Oldham teenager has been jailed after punching his pregnant partner, losing her baby.

Dusan Bako (18) admitted causing grievous bodily harm after punching his then 16-year-old girlfriend, who was seven months pregnant, last year.

Bako, of Copster Hill Road, was sentenced to four years and eight months in a youth offenders’ institution following sentencing at Manchester Crown Court on Friday.

The attack happened last August 14 after Bako, an aspiring rapper originally from the Czech Republic, went to his girlfriend’s home.

He called her outside, became aggressive, dragged her into Copster Hill Park and punched her in the stomach. She was taken to hospital, where she miscarried the baby.

Detective Chief Inspector Howard Millington said: “This is an exceptionally tragic case. Bako’s incomprehensible actions have left the victim distraught in a way I can’t begin to comprehend.

“To punch a heavily-pregnant girl in the stomach is as unthinkable as it is deplorable.”

IN an unrelated incident, a man who attacked his pregnant 16-year-old partner during a row over cooking and cleaning was sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for a year.

Jobless Bruno Dasilva (21), of Florin House, Hensyn Street, Oldham, threw the teenager - due to give birth in October - on a bed and hit her in the face several times, magistrates were told. He pleaded guilty to assaulting his partner and was also ordered to pay £165 costs.

Passing sentence, chairwoman Terri Farrow told him: “This was a terrible incident and you could have gone straight to jail for a considerable period.

Prior to the violence there had been rows about whether Dasilva was the father of the baby.

Said Mr Sumner: “My client accepts that his behaviour was totally inappropriate. He is hoping that the relationship can be rekindled.”
