ALWAYS smiling: Leyton has been brave throughout his treatment
A GROUP of kindhearted local business owners are going all out to give a family in need a life-changing boost.
When Tony Barrow, who runs Hollinwood Bodybuilding Gym, heard about little Leyton-Lee Fazackerley’s plight, he set about recruiting a team of fundraisers. Leyton was diagnosed with stage 4 tumours in his kidneys at six weeks old.
He started chemotherapy, and months later had his right kidney removed.
Leyton, of Oscar Street, Moston, turned one in March and is still having monthly chemotherapy.
Mum Emma Sutton doesn’t drive and as Leyton’s immune system is so poor, he can’t travel by public transport so the family, which also includes six-year-old Kyra-Leigh, must use taxis to get to medical appointments.
Tony, along with Nayereh Kelly, from The Wellness Club UK in Hollinwood, personal trainers Kevin and Clare Davies from Hollinwood, members of the European Islamic Centre in Werneth and OCD Valeting in Greenacres, have planned a series of events to raise enough money to pay for driving lessons for Emma and a family car.
Tony said: “My sister lives next door but one to Emma and when she told me about what the family were going through I wanted to help straight away. Everyone I asked to join in was more than happy to help. Getting the car is the first priority but we want to raise as much as possible to make life easier for this family.”
Emma said: “Having a car would totally transform our lives. “
