JESSICA Entwistle has chalked up a remarkable record: not missing a single one of 2,800 potential days in her school career.

Since starting at Oldham Hulme Grammar’s nursery at three, Jessica has been in class every day without a single absence. Now 17 and the school’s head girl, she is hoping her diligence will pay off for for her A-levels.

The 2011 Pride in Oldham award winner said: “I think it is a really great accomplishment. I never realised how many days it would be, but when you add them together over 15 years it’s quite a lot. It helps that I love school and haven’t wanted to miss any of it. I’ve also never really been ill: I always seem to be poorly over the holidays.”

Oldham’s winter weather never stopped her making it into school either, despite living several miles away in Rochdale. Jessica, 18 in August, added: “There was one time in year seven when it snowed heavily and people were struggling to get to school. I walked all the way, six miles, as I was determined not to miss anything. Then it was closed when I got there!”
