A SHAW dance school is celebrating after scooping an incredible haul of national championship wins.
Six of its students won UK titles at the International Dance Teachers Association event in Blackpool - almost unheard for such a small school says Madd for Dance owner Sean Madden, who runs classes with his wife, Carole.
Amy Edwards took the under-16s Latin championship title, her 10-year-old sister Jessica won the star dance competition, which involves ballroom and Latin sequences, and Dawn Evans won the over-35s category.
Emily McGowan Phoenix is now the adult 16-20 champion, Sarah Burton won the Latin “girl/girl” 13-15 section and Benjamin McDermott took the 21-34 male Latin title.
“For the size of the dance school it’s a real achievement as well as an achievement in itself,” said a very proud Sean. “It’s overwhelming really, and shows we’re getting it right.
“The team spirit here is very good and we’re all here for each other even when it doesn’t go well.”
