Shift rubbish - or else

A NUISANCE neighbour has been given until tomorrow to move a huge pile of rubbish behind his Coppice home.

The alleyway behind Gainsborough Avenue is full of bulging binbags and it’s causing a stink with neighbours. The waste is attracting pests and residents are growing fed up of the lack of pride taken in the area’s appearance.

One said: “We have a few issues in the area and we’re trying to get alley gates fitted to stop this happening. “A neighbour showed me it and I couldn’t believe it. It’s absolutely awful. We’re being blighted by it.

“We shouldn’t have to put up with this kind of thing. It’s a constant battle with people to get them to use the bins. The bags are getting all ripped apart and it’s attracting foxes and rats. My cats have brought dead rodents back to the house from there. We need to root out the cause and stop it happening again.”

Councillor Barbara Brownridge, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and co-operatives, said council officers had been to see the household responsible and the rubbish would be cleared later this week or action would be taken
