Enough is enough in eyesore garden

ANGRY residents are at breaking point over a nuisance neighbour whose garden has become a health hazard.

The garden on Poplar Avenue, Hollins, is piled high with bin bags and building rubble and is now attracting rats. Complaints have also been lodged about noise at the house.

The problem was reported to Contour Homes, which rents out the property, last year but residents say no action has been taken.

One neighbour said: “I first reported this over a year ago and now the whole neighbourhood has reported it. The back garden is full of black bags. It’s a dangerous health hazard. There’s rats in the garden and all the local cats are going there to try and catch them.

“There’s just piles of rubbish and breeze blocks. They’ve been asked to clear it up but it keeps getting worse.

“It’s not just the mess — they’re out there until all hours. We seem to be getting nowhere with it. It’s a nuisance for everybody else but imagine how their children must feel.”

“I don’t see why I should have to put up with it. How long can it take to get it all cleared up? It’s an unbelievable eyesore.”

Chris Langan, Contour Homes’ director of customer services, said they have been working with residents and will begin clearing the area.

He said: “We are aware of the situation and have been working with the tenant to remove the rubbish.”
