OLDHAM beauty queen Jodi Eyre may be the face of Manchester but she hasn’t a head for heights.
The Miss Manchester title winner is nonetheless planning to jump 11,000ft out of a plane in a charity skydive. The daredevil stunt is part of her task to raise as much money as possible for the charity linked to the beauty pageant industry, Beauty with a Purpose, which aids humanitarian projects around the world, as well as the Memusi Foundation, which supports sub-Saharan African communities.
Jodi (22), from Shaw, who won the regional crown last month, is calling on as many fellow Oldhamers as possible to sponsor her plunge, at Black Knight Parachute Centre in Lancaster on July 23.
“I’m so scared of heights, this is my worst nightmare,” said Jodi, a student nurse at Manchester Metropolitan University. “It will definitely be a challenge. Actually getting me out of the plane will be an even bigger one!”
Jodi is now heading for the Miss England accolade and has a host of events and tasks to complete before the final in Coventry on August 13 and 14 when 36 other regional title winners will compete for the crown. The winner will represent the nation in the Miss World finals in China.
