PAPER skeletons, Lego and origami were just some of the items to feature in brain teasing challenges during Royton and Crompton School Maths Week.

Students from Year 7 to Year 10 took part in a whole host of maths related activities to test their grey matter in a variety of lessons.

Year 7s took part in a maths trail around the school before finding their inner zen for an origami session, while Year 8s created their own maths related Top Trumps card game.

Year 9s enjoyed a Trading Game in the school hall which tested their business and marketing skills.

Year 10s created lifesize paper skeletons and learned to make Lego robots during a workshop at Newcastle-under-Lyme College, in Staffordshire.

Maths teacher Niparun Nessa said: “Maths Week is an annual event for the school and the students really enjoy it.

“There are lots more activities around the school building, such as treasure hunts, than in a traditional maths lesson, and it’s a chance to work with different pupil groups.

“Maths Week is also a great way to incorporate the subject into real-life situations such as having to plan and budget a holiday or having to make financial investments as part of the Trading Game.”
