Blue Coat School Brass Band - award
BLUE Coat School hit the right notes at the country’s top youth music festival.
Its brass band won an innovation award — which recognises imaginative or creative performances — at the Music For Youth National Festival in Birmingham.
More than 8,000 five to 21-year-olds took part in the week-long showcase of music in all its forms.
Awards were handed out to around 80 groups.
The orchestra and senior brass band from Crompton House School also performed, along with Dobcross Intermediate Band, Oldham Music Centre youth wind band and Oldham and Bury Youth Orchestra.
Blue Coat has won awards at previous national festivals and was presented with the shield for the most memorable performance at the recent Oldham Music Festival.
