New primary to help school place shortage

A SPONSOR has been found for a new three-form primary school to be built on the former Grange School site in Rochdale Road.
The Harmony Trust, which already operates Richmond, Alt and Westwood schools, is now subject to government ratification
The 630-space primary school is expected tp cost around £7.5million and will open in September 2016.
The school will have 20 classrooms, a hall, offices, kitchen, staff room and a practical science room ,as well as storerooms for PE and other equipment.
Research suggested a need for an extra 140 primary places by 2017. The council is also expanding primary school places in Failsworth, Hollinwood, Saddleworth and Lees.
