KEEPING FIT: Joe Littlewood
A 100-YEAR-OLD Oldhamer is showing no signs of slowing down as he moves into his second century.
Joseph Littlewood, who turned 100 earlier this month, has been attending fall-prevention exercise classes run by Oldham Community Leisure, for the past two months.
Family members, including his daughter Winifred and son Terence, say their father has been much steadier on his feet as a result
The 45-minute sessions take place at Oldham Sports Centre and at Joseph’s home, Bickerton Court.
Jackie Hanley, OCL senior health and physical activity development officer, said: “It’s a wonderful achievement and the fact that Joe is still so independent and even confident to catch the Ring and Ride bus to the supermarket once a week is exactly what the classes are set up to do.”
OCL has been running free fall-prevention classes for 15 years. Ten classes, with more than 100 places, are run weekly at locations across Oldham.
