Fly-tip menace really stacking up

FLY-TIPPING is on the rise across England as taxpayers foot a multi-million pound bill for clearing illegally dumped waste.
In Oldham incidents have risen from 807 in 2012-13 (with two prosecutions) to 1,285 in 2014-15 (20 prosecutions). Costs have soared from £42,855 to £76,739 over the last two years.
The number of fly-tipping incidents rose in 2014/2015 to 529,462 cases across the 201 councils that gave information for the past three financial years, up from 527,777 the previous year.
The 144 councils which provided data for clean-up costs for the past three years show that it cost more than £16.2million to clear the waste in 2014/2015, up from just under £16million the previous year and £13.6million in 2012/2013.
