27 council workers shown the door

AT least 27 employees have been fired from Oldham Council following disciplinary hearings over the last three years.
From 2011-2013, 17 workers were sacked out of 170 cases. At least five went in each of the following two years, but the council would not specify exactly how many.
Across Greater Manchester, council workers have been hauled before town hall chiefs for disciplinary hearings more than 1,000 times in the past five years. Employees were charged with a range of misconduct offences including fraud, theft, going absent without leave, and misuse of IT equipment.
At least 105 people were sacked.
