Tomorrow’s world gadgets of today

A new insulin guidance and management service, hip protectors to reduce fractures in falls and a sleep mask that can reduce the risk of retinal disease in diabetics are among projects shortlisted in a “Dragon’s Den-style search by Oldham’s Clinical Commissioning Group.

The local CCG has been working with partners to find innovative new healthcare technologies, and from 80 applications, six technologies have been shortlisted for their potential usefulness. These will now been researched more thoroughly and one or more could be put into service.

Denis Gizzi, managing director of NHS Oldham CCG, said: “We are confident the projects we shortlisted will potentially offer patients new solutions to some of their health problems.”
