220,000 pop in to seek treatment
Date published: 16 October 2015
MORE than 220,000 patients have been cared for at Greater Manchester three walk-in services - one of them in Oldham - since they opened in 2009.
The walk-in services at Lindley Medical Practice at the Integrated Care Centre in New Radcliffe Street, Oldham; Ashton Primary Care Centre and City Health Centre in Manchester Centre, have been hailed as a success due to the sheer volume of patients treated. The services are GP and nurse-led and provide treatment for minor ailments.
On average the services treat more than 35,000 patients a year. They are intended for patients not registered with a GP, those unable to get a suitable GP appointment, or who need to see a health professional urgently when their own GP practice is closed
