Drivers lose control on slip road

UP to eight people were taken to hospital, one with serious head injuries, after two seperate car crashes on the same stretch of road in Chadderton.
A black Citroen Berlingo carrying six people lost control on the A627 slip road near Elk Mill and collided with a barrier at around 4pm on Saturday. Snow was falling at the time.
One person was taken to Salford Royal Hospital with serious head injuries. The other five people in the car received mainly minor injuries, one a broken arm.
A Volkswagen Polo later lost control on the same slip road and crashed. It is understood two people in the car were taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital with minor injuries. The slip road was closed after the accidents until after 10pm, causing severe delays through the night.
