A LOVING grandma is pleading for help send her inspirational little grand-daughter on the holiday of her dreams.

Millie Moran (4) has battled through more in four years than most do in a lifetime, enduring more than 30 operations after being born with a rare form of spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

Millie suffers from epilepsy, chronic lung disease and is paralysed from the waist down. Twelve months ago she almost died from a life-threatening lung infection. She spent three months in hospital recovering.

It was then her gran, Vicky Shaw (47), from Springhead, promised to take Millie to Disneyland in Florida. Time is of the essence, says Vicky, since Millie is prey to life-threatening viruses and infections.

“I’ve got to do this for her,” an emotional Vicky said. “I can’t let her down. When she came out of hospital after being so ill she was watching Disney videos and I said, “Nanna will take you there one day”. She’s never let me forget it.

“I raise money all the time so I thought I could do it. But this time it’s so personal and I’m so desperate to do this for her. I need as much help as possible.

Millie needs be intensive care-free for 12 months before doctors will let her take the trip - and while she has reached that milestone, it doesn’t stop her family worrying.

Vicky needs £10,000, which will include paying a nurse to accompany her grand-daughter.

Millie is now in her first year at Blackshaw Lane Primary School in Royton. The school too is keen to help with fundraising.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the response from people offering to help out in different ways,” said Vicky.
