A SADDLEWORTH actress is set to bring terror to the metropolis of Manchester in the starring role of a new thrilling stage play.

Beth Hunter (25), from Uppermill, will assume the “sexy and psychotic” persona of Anne Dry, a reporter who becomes entangled with a serial killer terrorising the city in “Psychopathy & The Single Girl” at the Kings Arms Theatre, in Salford.

Described as an “extremely violent, witty, and stylish black comedy”, it has been written by playwright and former Granada TV journalist Nakib Narat. Nakib describes the former Saddleworth school pupils’s role as “strong, avenging... yet feminine” as she deals with childhood abuse in a world of powerful men. The production runs from June 22-26 before touring.

Beth learned how to act from the age of six at the Judith Barker drama school — now known as Saddleworth Drama Centre — where she still helps out.

She appeared in Oldham Coliseum’s “Hanky Park” in 2014, trained at the renowned Mountview Academy of Drama in London and has had several TV roles.

She’s due to appear in the British feature film “Dusty and Me” alongside “Game of Thrones” actor Iain Glen and actress Lesley Sharp later this year.

She says she can’t wait to get stuck into the “psychotic and intoxicating” role.

“It will be a challenge but I’m so looking forward to it,” said Beth. “It’s such a good part.”
