FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire at a Saddleworth farm yesterday afternoon.
The fire is believed to have started at around 2.15pm and involved around 100 bails of straw which had been stored in the barn on Roundhill Farm, off Long Lane in Dobcross.
Five fire appliances were sent to the scene to bring the fire under control and at around 7.30pm fire services reduced the number of appliances to two as they brought the blaze under control.
Fire fighters worked with the farmer up until around 11.30 last night as they ensured the fire would not reginite and stayed clear of other buildings in the area.
There were no injuries as the fire was in a secluded area and some distance away from livestock.
Fire services were sending a pump crew this morning to assess the fire area.
