REVELLERS are gearing up for Oldham's annual classic car show and second vintage market.

The free event from 10.30am - 3.30pm on Sunday gives car enthusiasts a chance to view pre-war tourers, 1960s sports cars and American and European classics in the town centre.

Not just for petrolheads, the event will host a 60s-themed vintage market with live music and entertainment for shoppers looking for a bargain.

Councillor Jean Stretton, leader of Oldham Council, said: "The annual classic car show is a great opportunity for motoring enthusiasts and families to visit Oldham town centre and see cars from years gone by.

"And now we've added the vintage market, it's also your chance to pick up something a little quirky that you might not see every day in the shops.

"All the other town centre shops and attractions will also be open and with up to three hours of free parking in our car parks this promises to be a good day out."

The car show - organised by Tame Valley Vintage and Classic Car Club - will display around 50 cars, motorcycles and light commercial vehicles on the High Street and will see vehicles judged under ten different categories with one owner presented with the 'Car of the Show' title.

The vintage market - arranged by Scoots, Suits and Boots owner Mick Harwood - will boast vintage, craft and food stalls lined up along Yorkshire Street.

Last year saw stall owners take over the street selling quirky items such as vintage inspired cupcakes, furniture, clothing and jewellery.

The world's first and only shopping trolley dance display team, Granny Turismo, will be entertaining crowds as they perform their part walkabout, part circus show.

Oldham's own Stonerig Raceway will also offer a chance for some friendly competition when they set up a huge Scalextric track for the event.

The Sunday car boot sale will also be taking place as usual on Tommyfield Outdoor Market from 6.15am until noon.

Anyone wishing to display their car will need to join Tame Valley Vintage and Classic Car Club.
