A SECONDARY school which has raised more than £8,500 for Oldham Mountain Rescue Team over eight years has received a special award.
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team leader Mick Nield presented Crompton House School with a plaque in recognition of its support.
The Shaw secondary has held non-uniform days for the team since its members helped a pupil who had injured her foot while training for her Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition.
Senior deputy head teacher Jim Upton also presented Mr Nield with a plaque bearing the crest of the Shaw secondary school.
The ceremony took place at Castleshaw outdoor education centre, Delph, and included a demonstration by the team's rescue dogs.
Mr Upton said: "We are very grateful to the work of the volunteers of Oldham Mountain Rescue and our non-uniform days are a great way to help them.
"It's good to know that if anything does go wrong on the hills, these people are prepared to come and help.
"They need everyone's support."
