POLICE are appealing for information after a man died in Rochdale after being found unconscious in the street.
Shortly after 2.30am yesterday, officers were called to Roch Valley Way, Bamford, to reports of an unconscious man with head injuries. The 52-year-old man was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained but enquires have established that the man was seen to collapse just after 2am and lay unconscious before two men approached him around 15 minutes later and tried to wake him.
After the man didn't wake up, the two flagged another member of the public and an ambulance was called.
Police are now appealing for the two men, who are possibly in their late teens or early 20s, to come forward to assist with enquiries.
Detective Inspector Andrew Butterworth, of GMP's Rochdale borough, said: "Enquiries have established that two men have approached the man at around 2:15am and attempted to wake him before flagging another member of the public. I would like to urge these two men to come forward."
Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 856 8549 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
