CLOUDS of rainbow colour will cover Alexandra Park next month as the spectacular Dr Kershaw's Hospice Colour Blast returns.

Last year thousands of people took part in the event, a fun run through the Oldham park in which participants get covered in brightly coloured powder.

Their efforts raised £10,000 for the Royton hospice.

Dr Kershaw's is hoping to repeat the event's success on September 25 and will be painting the park and fundraisers red, blue, yellow, green and orange.

Angela Higham, fundraising team leader at Dr Kershaw's, said: "Last year we had so much fun at Colour Blast we knew we had to do it again.

"It was great to see people of all ages and doggies joining in.

"This year we are making it bigger and better with more family-fun things to do including children's rides, stalls and food.

"We hope to raise lots of money and awareness of the hospice, to ensure we can keep the vital work going like with new services such as Hospice at Home.

"We expect to see over 1,000 people participating in the event at Alexandra Park this year and places are filling up, so make sure you get your place booked."

Registration for this year's event, supported by Revolution 96.2 Radio, Kirkham and Premier Mitsubishi Rochdale, is now open online.

The event is open to everyone and participants can run, walk or jog the walk.

It will start at midday and finish at 4pm.

Tickets are priced £15 for adults, £8 for children or £42 for a family of four.

All registered Colour Blasters will receive a pack containing a T-shirt and a packet of coloured powder.

Sponsorship forms will be issued upon registering via email.
