THE search is on for a Snowman soloist from Oldham.

An acclaimed orchestra is on the lookout for two school pupils to join them on stage at the Queen Elizabeth Hall to perform the song Walking in the Air from the film, The Snowman.

For their first visit to the borough, Carrot Productions are set to delight the whole family on December 5 with a screening of two magical films with a live orchestra.

Alongside the iconic Snowman film, this extra special performance includes a light-hearted Guide to the Orchestra, including an angelic harp, Frozen on the flutes, and what is described as "a very naughty drummer".

Director of Music for Oldham, Gerard Booth, said: "This is an exceptional opportunity for two of Oldham's young singers to perform an iconic piece of music with an outstanding orchestra as part of a high quality, professional show.

"The Snowman Tour has achieved national recognition and I am delighted that the Oldham Music Service has been able to bring it to the Queen Elizabeth Hall for the benefit of our young people and their families.

"I have no doubt that the experience will live long in the memories both of those taking part and those that come to see what will be a magical performance".

Young people in Oldham aged 8-17 are invited to audition to sing 'Walking in the Air' live on stage.

Auditions will take place at Oldham Music Centre, in Union Street, on Wednesday, October 5 from 4 to 6pm but singing hopefuls must register by September 30.

Applicants should visit the audition page where they will find sheet music and backing tracks necessary to prepare for the audition.
