It’s Obama the llama!

A Lees farm has come up with its own unique celebration of America’s new president — by naming a llama in his honour.
And frisky Obama the llama, has become star attraction with customers at the roadside shop which also includes a special pet’s corner.
David Mort, owner of Cockfields Farm, in Lees New Road, Lees, and his manager Mark Navin came up with the name after Barack Obama became president-elect of the United States.
The former senator from Illinois will take over the presidency from George Bush on Tuesday, January 20.
Mark (28), from Greenacres, who manages the farm and huge aquarium, said: “The name could not have been more apt for the llama.
“Like the president, he was the new kid on the block with our other pets.
“The name has a real rhyming ring to it and Obama — much like the real-life president — has become a big hit with families.
“We have piglets, donkeys, turtles and rare fish in our aquarium — but I reckon Obama has stolen the show.
“We think he’ll develop his own fan club among children, too.
“He’s really feisty and very customer- friendly. He has a natural curiosity too,” he added.

Where does the Chronicle find its reporters? - 2.
Cockfields Farm is on the Oldham - Ashton border, literally, the border being bent around the farm to keep it all in Oldham.Lees would probably be visible on a clear day with a good pair of binoculars from the top of a nearby electricity pylon, it cetainly is nowhere near the farm.Maybe 'The Geography of Oldham' would make a good pull out section one week, but don't get Chron reporters to work on it.
