Dog fight case

A GLODWICK couple charged with neglecting their pet dogs, causing unnecessary suffering and organising animal fights have had their court case adjourned.

Raja Hussain (28) and Tasleem Akhtar (32), of Mansfield Road are said to have neglected to care for their pit bull-type dogs Hitler, Demon and Sandy.

RSPCA inspectors found the animals to have a mixture of chronic infections and bite wounds which the pair had failed to seek veterinary treatment for.

The charges against Hussain allege he kept the animals for use in connection with an animal fight and inspectors found associated equipment, such as training schedules, weighted collars, chains and syringes at the couple’s home.

Both are charged with possessing an animal which falls under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 without the correct paperwork. The trial has been adjourned until Thursday, February 12, at Oldham Magistrates Court from 9.45am.
