Stabbed for a mobile phone

A 15-YEAR-OLD was stabbed after two men demanded his mobile phone on Saturday morning.

Police were called just after midnight by paramedics who reported the stabbing in Middleton Road, Westwood.

Officers discovered the teenager with a stab wound in his chest and he was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The boy was walking with a friend when they were approached by two men, one of whom pulled a knife and demanded the boy’s mobile phone.

As the victim handed it over there was a scuffle and the teenager was stabbed.

The men were described as Asian and both aged around 19.

One was slim, around 5ft 7ins and wearing a brown waist-length hooded jacket and dark tracksuit bottoms.

The other was around 5ft 8ins, of medium build, wearing a black hooded jacket and dark bottoms.

Detective Constable Rukhsana Kauser of Oldham CID said: “This boy ended up in hospital simply because the offenders wanted his mobile phone.

“We need to catch the people responsible so if you were in the area at the time or know the identity of the offenders, please call us.”
