Extra two years as Farid fails to pay £472,000
A CONVICTED drug dealer has seen his prison sentence extended after failing to repay almost half a million pounds from his crimes.

Last June Mohammed Farid was sentenced to almost 18 years after he was exposed as the head of an organised drugs gang across Oldham, and convicted of money-laundering offences.

He was ordered to repay £472,306.72 within 28 days.. He was said to have made over £1.24 million from crime and enjoyed a “luxury lifestyle”.

Two years and nine months have been added to his current term due to his failure to pay.

Det Insp Glen Jones said: “Farid was given 28 days to make the payment. He hasn’t met the deadline and will not only serve almost three more years but still owes the money - which we are determined will be paid.

During the operation that exposed Farid, 27 kilos of heroin, a kilo of cocaine and three commercial cannabis farms were recovered with an estimated street value of £2.5 million. Eight members of Farid’s crime gang were sentenced to more than 46 years in total. Farid’s remaining assets will now be sold.
