FAILSWORTH boxer Danny Wright is excited at the prospect of 'stepping into the unknown' when he makes his professional debut at the Whites Hotel at the Bolton Wanderers FC stadium on Saturday.

The Failsworth light-welterweight hopeful (20) is currently due to fight Hungarian journeyman Krizstian Kasovic over four rounds as he begins a new chapter in the paid ranks following years of brilliant success as an amateur.

The former ABA champion and Great Britain international said: "Training has gone great with Ben (Lancaster). I'm nice and sharp and just tapering off before the weekend now.

"I do feel excited at the thought of stepping into the unknown so to speak, but I have been mentally prepared for this step for quite a while now.

"It's another step on the career ladder to bigger and better things, and I'm ready for it.

"There's a certain amount of taking each day as it comes until fight night, but I really can't wait to get in that ring with no top on and those smaller gloves.

"It's a very important fight for me, but I'm ideally prepared for it and the whole pro experience."

Now signed with manager/promoters Steve Wood and Frank Warren, Wright is hoping to step back into the ring on at least a couple more occasions this side of Christmas providing all goes to plan on Saturday.

His camp have organised coach travel to the fight and he is set to be roared on by a 200-strong fan army on the night.

Jamie Cox's WBO Inter-Continental super middleweight title clash against Martin Fidel Rios tops the bill at Bolton.

There is a 10-fight undercard, with seven boxers making their debuts.

The show, which is being televised live by BoxNation, starts at 6pm.
