City must back up Bridge success – Given

Shay Given is hoping the galvanising effect arising from Wayne Bridge’s well–publicised problems could spur Manchester City on to claim fourth place in the Barclays Premier League.

In the wake of the falling–out between Bridge and former team–mate John Terry, City claimed their best result of the season, a 4–2 win at Stamford Bridge.

“It was a personal thing for Wayne and we were delighted for him,” said Given.

“We all backed him up over it. We are a team, a family, and we all stick together.”

Given feels City, currently fifth, are now well placed to go on and claim a Champions League place.
