Alex is ready for Robben

THE prospect of facing Arjen Robben, one of the best wingers on the planet, doesn’t faze Manchester United left–back Alex Buttner one bit.

Robben won back–to–back Premier League titles with Chelsea and has gone from strength to strength since his return to mainland Europe. Two years at Real Madrid were followed by the Bayern Munich move, since when he has won three Bundesliga trophies.

Though he is now the wrong side of 30, the Dutchman showed he is still among the world's best at Wembley last May when he skipped through the Borussia Dortmund defence and slotted the ball past Roman Weidenfeller to win the Champions League for Bayern.

Buttner knows he faces a tough task keeping Robben in check during Manchester United’s Champions League quarter–final tomorrow night, but won’t shy away from the fight.

“I feel confident about playing them,’ said Buttner, who will start at left–back for United. “I know what Robben can do and I am ready for him. I have watched him so I know how he plays. It is not under

discussion how good he is. We all know that, but I want to do well against him. I will do everything I can to stop him.”
