Kompany up for challenge

MANCHESTER City captain Vincent Kompany accepts the Champions League is a ‘different ball game’ – but one well within his side’s scope.
After reasserting their domestic supremacy last season, the Barclays Premier League champions believe it is time to start making their mark in Europe.
Their first two runs in the competition ended abruptly with group–stage exits, though last year they reached the last 16.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s game against Bayern Munich, Kompany said Europe is now the club’s main target: “We aren’t favourites by any means, but we would like to at least compete and challenge, like we have in the Premier League.
“My experience of the Champions League is that it’s not more difficult to go to the end, because there are fewer games, but everything needs to be perfect. We believe eventually it will happen our way.”
