Plenty of faith in world-class Yaya

IT was terrific to see Yaya Toure score a crucial goal for City at Villa.

He has not quite been the same player as last season over the last couple of months through one reason or another.

But he has always been capable of pulling a goal of that quality out of the bag, and just when City needed it as well.

There has been plenty of talk among fans and pundits about Yaya’s form of late and whether or not he should be dropped, but whatever happens, he is still a world-class talent.

He seems to have had a lot on his plate recently, what with his brother dying, the World Cup in the summer and all the speculation about whether he is feeling loved at City. It is understandable that all that is going to affect him in some form or other. He is too big a talent to suffer this dip in form for long, though.

Yaya is one of the best midfielders around and he will be back flying again soon. His goal at Villa Park was total class and I’m sure he will bang in a few more like that as the season progresses.

That was a timely win for City as they keep up the pursuit of Chelsea, but now there is an international break before the home game against Tottenham a week on Saturday.

Although Roy Hodgson has picked another young squad, England should have enough to get past Estonia and San Marino without too many dramas.

I’m fully expecting England to pick up six points from the two games.

As far as my job at City goes, we had a great time filming my boxing match against Alexandr Kolarov.

I had Edin Dzeko in my corner, which was fun, and in the end it was more like a comedy sketch then a boxing tournament.

It will be ‘hitting’ the City website hopefully this week, along with interviews I’ve done with Willie Donachie and Paul Bosvelt.
