RED-HOT striker Jonathan Forte is making up for lost time by continuing to bag goals at an extraordinary rate for Athletic.

The 28 year old took two strikes in the 4-1 home win over Coventry last night to move into double figures in a season only three months old. It takes the lightning-quick forward into a clear second in the league’s top scorer charts.

After a season of misery at Southampton, Forte’s return to first-team action has brought 10 goals in 12 appearances for his new club.

Manager Lee Johnson reckons there could be more bad news for defences, since the former Sheffield United man is only getting over a knee problem.

“He’s very happy,” Johnson said of his star man. “It’s nice to see an Oldham player in the top scorers’ list, isn’t it?”

After making three changes to the side ahead of last night’s win romp against an abject Coventry side, Johnson admits he is faced with tough selection decisions ahead of Saturday’s home game against Bradford.

“We haven’t got many injuries and we are still trying to improve the squad,” he said. “It is difficult for me at the moment: what team do I play on Saturday now? I;ve rested some, brought in others and we have won 4-1. It’s a lovely problem to have.”
