Lampard set to extend City stay

FRANK Lampard could be set to extend his stay at Manchester City further into next year, provided the midfield veteran’s parent club New York City FC holds a pre-season training camp in England.
The 36 year old has become an important member of City boss Manuel Pellegrini’s squad in his short time there, having already scored four goals.
With Pellegrini keen to keep him longer, the suggestion is that New York City could use the new £200 million Etihad Campus training base in January or February so Lampard can continue to play for City.
Lampard picked up a thigh injury in last week’s win over Tottenham and is a doubt for tomorrow as Pellegrini’s side bid to maintain their excellent recent record at a resurgent West Ham (12.45pm kick-off).
